F.A.Q.'s

  1. How long does the recruitment and selection process take?
The recruitment and selection process can take up to three months.

  2. As a casual employee, how many hours would I be expected to work? What happens if I’m not available?
The expectation is that casual employees fill in for full time employees for vacation, statutory holidays, and staffing shortages. The availability of work depends on the time of year, what is happening in the workforce in terms of movement of people to different positions, as well as how many employees we have in our casual pool. Casual employees are required to pre-book shifts in advance. If you are not available, you would mark yourself as ‘unavailable’ for that particular day(s).

  3. If I don’t pass the required tests the first time, how long do I have to wait before I can re-test?
If you don’t pass the required tests the first time, the wait time before re-testing is usually 60 days.

  4. Can you apply for full time jobs as an external candidate?
Full time bargaining positions are offered to our existing employees first. If we cannot fill the vacancy internally, we will open the competition to external candidates.

  5. What is the likelihood of obtaining a full time job once you’ve been hired?
With the department continuously experiencing growth and change, there is plenty of room for movement. Full time jobs are posted internally throughout the year. All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply.
