Home Security

Crime Prevention is a community effort.  By working together, neighbours can increase the security and safety of their neighbourhood.

  • Get to know your neighbours, who lives in the household, thier schedules
  • Get involved in Block Watch or Crime Free Multi Housing
  • Be proactive in your neighbourhood, especially if you reside in an apartment building or townhouse
  • Report suspicious activity to the police immediately
Make your home a hard target for thieves.
  • tirm trees and shrubs so doorsand windows are visible to your neighbours and from the street
  • don't hide keys around the exterior of your home
  • keep your property clear of clutter and well maintained
  • use motion detector lights on the exterior of your home
  • use light timers on the interior of your home
  • don't leave tools and ladders lying around - secure them in a locked shed or garage
