Crime Prevention is everyone's responsibility. Crime Prevention is a community effort. By working together, neighbours can increase the security and safety of their homes and neighbourhood.

  • Get to know your neighbours, their schedules, tennants and kids
  • Get involved in Block Watch or Crime Free Multi Housing
  • Be proactive in your neighbourhood, including your apartment or townhouse community
  • Report suspiciousactivity to the police immediately

Make your home a hard target to thieves

  • Trim trees and shrubs so doors and windows are visible from the street and to neighbours
  • Don't hide keys around the exterior of your home
  • Keep lawn and yard well maintained
  • Install your house number on the front and rear of your house - making sure it is visible from the street
  • Store tools and ladders in a locked shed or garage
  • Fencind defines your property, ensure that it doesn't provide cover for criminals
  • Use motion detector lights on the exterior of your home
