Become a Citizen on Patrol

Citizens’ Patrol is a team of highly trained volunteers who enhance vital crime prevention services and community awareness through proactive law enforcement principles.

Citizens’ Patrol members do not take enforcement action, carry weapons or make arrests. All suspicious activity is reported to the Police Department by radio equipped patrol vehicles and a dispatch center.

The Citizens’ Patrol volunteer will receive training in the following areas
  • Orientation and organization
  • Crime prevention
  • Patrol procedures
  • Communication
  • other training as developed
Requirements
  • Attend monthly Citizens’ Patrol meeting
  • Volunteer a minimum of 10 hours per month
  • adhere to Department and Program Policy regarding appearance
  • Maintain Police Clearance
  • Valid class 5 Drivers License

Qualifications

  • Nineteen years of age or older
  • Good moral character
  • No criminal record
  • Good driving record

What Duties Do Reserves Perform?

 

The primary focus of Abbotsford Police Reserve Constables is performing community policing and crime prevention duties. Reserves also perform Traffic duties, assist at special events, aid police officers in a variety of training capacities, partake in ride a-longs, and assist in other duties as required.
