Another successful year for the AbbyPD Junior Police Academy

Congratulations to 23 grade 11 and 12 Abbotsford high school students, who spent a week of their spring break learning about what it’s like to be a police officer!
Throughout the week, students attending the AbbyPD Junior Police Academy studied the criminal code, were taught self-defense, reviewed traffic studies and crime scenes, and spent a day at the firearms range.

They participated in fitness classes, and learned about making healthy choices. The students closed out the week with scenario day, where they applied what they learned during the week – role-playing some of the challenges faced by police officers when interacting with the public.

Cst. Deanna Dixon, the officer responsible for organizing the event, states: “This year we were extremely proud of our selection, as this group was eager and switched on. It was a privilege to work with these students, and we are happy we can provide this unique opportunity.”

The AbbyPD Junior Police Academy runs for one week of spring break each year.. For
