AbbyPD’s Vintage Police Cruiser
The Abbotsford Police Department will be turning 65 this year. To be specific, we will be celebrating 25 years as the Abbotsford Police Department and 40 years as the Matsqui Police Department. This significant milestone will be marked by numerous events, activities and the restoration of a vintage police cruiser.

Robbery suspect in custody- police seek two witnesses
On Sunday February 2nd at 5:14 pm, a woman was returning to her vehicle in a parking lot at 2061 Sumas Way, when she found a male rummaging through her vehicle. The woman confronted the male, who turned and struck her in the face multiple times. The male then grabbed the victim’s purse and fled on foot.

Beware of scams & fraud warning
Fraudsters continue to trick, exploit and manipulate the public.
The Abbotsford Police are asking citizens to remain vigilant, and to not respond to fraudsters calling and threatening arrest. The caller is NOT from a police agency, the Canada Revenue Agency, Social Insurance office or an immigration officer. These agencies will never call you to threaten you with arrest. The people who are calling are criminals attempting to extort money from you.

Over the next two days, the Abbotsford Police Department’s Traffic Enforcement Unit will be conducting a school zone enforcement blitz. During this time, officers will provide 30 hours of targeted enforcement at 30 elementary schools in Abbotsford.

AbbyPD investigating shooting incident on Heritage Drive
At 1:21 pm, police were called to the 3600 block of Heritage Drive for a report of a shooting incident. Upon arrival, officers spoke to the 19-year-old victim, who advised that he arrived at a residence on Heritage Drive, and as he was walking to the door, an occupant of a white SUV, fired a gun towards him, hitting a vehicle in the driveway. The occupants of the suspect vehicle, a white SUV, fled the area.

An Open Letter to a Property Offender
To Whom it May Concern,
As you may recall, on the night of November 30, 2019, you entered a garage in the 33300 block of Wren Crescent in Abbotsford. Once inside, you noticed a shiny red mobility scooter, and decided to cowardly steal it from the garage. Granted, the garage was left open by mistake by the home owner, but the open door was not an invitation to you to take the Shoprider Trailblazer scooter.

4 in custody after stabbing on Riverside Road
Tonight at 7:07 pm, Abbotsford Emergency Services were called to the 1900 block of Riverside Road where witnesses located a man laying on the roadway. Upon arrival, patrol officers located a man suffering from what appeared to be stab wounds. The man was transported by BC Ambulance Services to hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Over the past two weeks, the Abbotsford Police has observed social media posts that may cause alarm in our community. These posts include that there have been attempted abductions, a sex ring group operating in Abbotsford, and strangers attempting to get into citizen-occupied vehicles.
