Firearms, Drugs & Cash Seized During Traffic Stop

On April 11th at 7:00 pm, AbbyPD Plainclothes Officers were conducting routine patrols in the 32000 block of Mt. Waddington Ave when they observed a brown Jeep owned by a known offender leave a problem residence in the area. A short time later, a traffic stop was conducted.

Four occupants were present in the vehicle at the time of the stop. One of the occupants, a 34-year-old man, was arrested on outstanding warrants for Possession of Stolen Property and driving offences.

On April 7th, 2023, Major Crime Detectives arrested a 38-Year-Old man for robbery relating to this incident.  To date, investigators have confirmed that this incident was targeted, with the intended recipient being another individual associated with the residence.

AbbyPD Responds to Weapons Call at WJ Mouat Secondary

Today, April 4th, 2023, at 12:13 pm, AbbyPD responded to a report of an active shooter at WJ Mouat Secondary School. Every on-duty AbbyPD officer responded to the call, supported by our RCMP partners, CP Police, the Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team, and the Lower Mainland Integrated Police Dog Service.

Major Crime Detectives Investigating Residential Robbery

On April 1st, at 8:06 pm, AbbyPD Patrol Officers responded to a residence within the 300 block of Ross Road. The 62-year-old female victim reported being robbed by five unknown males who were wearing face masks while outside on her property.

Prolific Offender Arrested Within 24 Hrs After Being Convicted

On March 25th at 6:15 pm, AbbyPD Patrol Officers located a stolen Toyota 4-Runner mobile in the 2800 block of Victoria Street. Plainclothes officers covertly followed the stolen vehicle until it stopped in the 31900 block of South Fraser Way.

The male driver of the stolen vehicle attempted to flee on foot but was arrested after a brief foot pursuit. The female passenger was arrested at the scene but later released.

Patrol Officers Assaulted During Traffic Stop

On March 20th at 11:16 pm, AbbyPD Patrol Officers were conducting routine patrols along South Fraser Way at Clearbrook Road when they observed a black Honda CRV travelling 90 km/h in a 50 km/h zone.

Over the next couple of minutes, officers further observed the vehicle fail to stop at a controlled intersection, fail to signal, tailgating another car and passing another vehicle over a double solid line. During this time, the vehicle speed increased to 105 km/h in a posted 50 km/h zone.

Abbotsford Police Arrest Prolific Offender in Stolen Vehicle

Today, March 19, 2023, at 03:12 am, Abbotsford Police Patrol Officers, along with assistance from the Integrated Police Dog Services, had observed a stolen vehicle travelling westbound on Hwy 1 through Abbotsford.

Abby PD Patrol officers responded to the area where the vehicle, occupied by two persons, was brought to a stop with the deployment of a spike belt on the stretch of Hwy 1 between McCallum Rd and Clearbrook Rd, Abbotsford.

Female Discharges Pellet Gun at Police Officers

On March 12th at 12:36 am, AbbyPD Plainclothes Officers were conducting routine patrols in a closed business complex within the 31900 block of South Fraser Way. Officers located a group of people congregating on the property and proceeded to investigate.

As officers approached the group in their unmarked police vehicle, a female emerged from the group and pointed a firearm toward the officer's vehicle and fired, striking the police vehicle's windshield, and causing minor damage.

Fatal Collision on South Parallel Road

On February 24th, 2023, at 2:29 pm, AbbyPD Patrol Officers encountered a serious collision in the 35400 block of South Parallel Road while conducting routine patrols.

Upon arrival, officers located a single vehicle which had left the roadway and collided with a parked commercial trailer. First responders provided lifesaving medical care, but regrettably, the 48-year-old driver suffered fatal injuries.

The 91-year-old female victim was walking through the church parking lot utilizing her walker when an unknown man attempted to steal her purse.

AbbyPD Investigating Mischiefs to Cell Tower

The Abbotsford Police Department’s General Investigation Section (GIS) is currently investigating three separate mischiefs that have occurred to a cell tower located within the 35000 block of Raven Court. In each of the incidents, which occurred in the evening hours of January 1st, 8th, and 12th extensive damage was caused to the communications equipment located at the site resulting in thousands of dollars damage.

On October 12th, 2021, AbbyPD Patrol Officers received a report of an erratic driver eastbound on Highway 1 entering the Abbotsford area. Officers quickly located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop resulting in the driver failing to stop for police.
