Robbery suspect in custody- police seek two witnesses
On Sunday February 2nd at 5:14 pm, a woman was returning to her vehicle in a parking lot at 2061 Sumas Way, when she found a male rummaging through her vehicle. The woman confronted the male, who turned and struck her in the face multiple times. The male then grabbed the victim’s purse and fled on foot.
A man, matching the suspect’s description, was located a short distance away and arrested. Thomas Edward GRACE, 48, remains in custody facing new charges of assault and theft.
Investigators have reviewed CCTV from the area, and prior to this robbery the suspect had contact with two other female patrons of this strip mall. Investigators would like to speak to both women.
Video #1: At 5:08 pm, the suspect approached and had a brief conversation with a woman as she used the CIBC automated banking machine (ABM). The woman was wearing a grey or denim-type top, a black skirt or shorts, and a pair of black boots.
Video #2: Between 5:00 pm and 5:14 pm, the suspect attended the complex’s Subway restaurant. A woman purchased a sandwich for the suspect, and he is seen leaving the store. The woman has dark hair, and was wearing glasses, a blue sweater and black pants.
