Two from Alberta arrested in stolen truck, firearm seized

A 25-year-old man and 24- year-old woman from Alberta are facing more charges after being caught by AbbyPD officers in a stolen vehicle, with a loaded handgun.

Yesterday morning, at 5:20 am, AbbyPD officers on patrol spotted a black pick-up truck, with stolen license plates from Osoyoos, in the area of Marshall Road and Ware Street.  The vehicle was followed a few blocks until it pulled into a parking lot in the 32100 block of Marshall Road.  The officers tried to stop the vehicle with emergency equipment and blocked it in, but the driver rammed a police car and unoccupied parked vehicle trying to escape. 

Two occupants were taken into police custody.  Upon search of the truck, a loaded 9mm handgun was located, with altered serial numbers.  The truck was found to be stolen from Alberta.

The driver, 25-year-old Austin GRAHAM, and 24-year-old Brooke GOODWIN, have extensive criminal histories from Alberta and Saskatchewan.  GRAHAM has outstanding warrants of arrest in Saskatchewan and Alberta for:

  • Unlawfully at large
  • Fail to comply with release order x 11
  • Uttering threats
  • Mischief under $5000

GRAHAM has numerous out-standing firearm-related offences in Alberta and is facing new charges including possession of stolen property, firearms related charges, failing to stop for police and assault with a weapon.

Female passenger, Brooke GOODWIN, had outstanding warrants of arrest for

  • Fail to comply with release order x 7
  • Mischief under $5000

GOODWIN is facing new charges of including possession of stolen property and firearm related offences.

Both GRAHAM and GOODWIN have been remanded in-custody and will appear in court next week.
