The Abbotsford Police want to thank everyone for sharing this incident to assist with resolving this investigation. We have confirmed that this incident was a communication misunderstanding involving a delivery driver attempting to make a delivery in the area. As a result of the media release, the driver immediately came to the police department and cleared everything up. There is no risk to the public and thank you to all those involved.
Release # 1:
Abbotsford Police Youth officers are investigating a suspicious incident that occurred today, Friday, May 7th, at 10:22 am on Mouat Drive.
A 14-year-old high school student was waiting to be picked up when a vehicle pulled up to her, and the male driver stated, “your mom sent me. I am here to pick you up”. The student knew this was not true, turned, and walked away.
The driver parked nearby for a short time and then left, driving eastbound on Mouat Drive.
The suspect is described as a South Asian male in his 40’s to 50s, short dark hair gelled back (with some grey), receding hairline, a round face with some wrinkles, and no facial hair (no clothing description available). The victim advised that he spoke with an accent and had poor English. The vehicle is described as a grey, four-door, sedan-type vehicle. There is an “N” on the back beside the license plate (photo attached).
