AbbyPD Major Crime Unit is investigating a vehicle robbery with suspects in custody

On February 17th, 2024, at 7:05 P.M., AbbyPD patrol officers responded to a reported robbery in the 3600 block of Townline Rd. Abbotsford.

Upon arrival, officers located a lone male who had sustained a gunshot wound. The victim has since been transported to the hospital.

AbbyPD is investigating a serious motor vehicle collision resulting in a fatality

On February 3, 2024, at 12:54 p.m., AbbyPD officers responded to the 31000 block of Old Yale Rd for a reported serious motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles.
Upon attendance, first responders immediately provided medical aid to an 84-year-old male driver who had sustained serious and life-threatening injuries. Sadly, the 84-year-old male succumbed to the injuries at the scene.

AbbyPD member acquitted of charges stemming from a 2020 arrest

In February 2020, a vehicle traffic stop in Abbotsford, BC, escalated when the accused, Dustin Mills, assaulted a Police Officer and fled from the scene. Mr. Mills was located by police and stopped in West Vancouver.

Mr. Mills was arrested with the assistance of numerous police agencies, including Lower Mainland Integrated Police Dog Service Handler Sgt. Shaun Nagel and his police service dog.

AbbyPD Crime Reduction Unit Arrests Prolific Break and Enter Suspect

In October 2023, the AbbyPD Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) began investigating a series of underground break-and-enters, where the suspect was targeting tools, bicycles, and credit/debit cards from within vehicles, which they would later fraudulently use.

These occurrences were of great concern to police due to the substantial impact it was having on victims, their families, and businesses.

I.H.I.T. deployed to Abbotsford for a reported shooting in mall parking lot

Today, January 20th, 2024, at 5:51 p.m., Patrol officers of the Abbotsford Police Department responded to a parking lot within the 32900 block of South Fraser Way, Abbotsford, BC, for a reported shooting.

Upon attendance at the scene, officers located a 25-year-old male with serious and life-threatening injuries consistent with gunshot wounds. First aid was immediately provided, however, the victim succumbed to the injuries.

AbbyPD on scene for serious motor vehicle collision involving pedestrian

On January 18th, 2024, at 6:16 A.M., AbbyPD officers responded to the area of North Parallel Rd and Fooks Rd Abbotsford B.C for a reported collision involving a pedestrian.

Officers arriving at the scene located a 31-year-old male suffering from serious and life-threatening injuries. Medical aid was immediately provided, and the male was transported to the hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

AbbyPD responds to the sentencing in Abbotsford Police Officer Allan Young's death trial.

Today's sentencing of Mr. Willness has been a long time coming. It is clear from the evidence presented at trial that Cst. Young's death was senseless and unnecessary.

The Abbotsford Police Department thanks our colleagues at the Nelson Police Department for their investigation of this incident, the Crown for their work in the prosecution of this case, and all the witnesses who provided their accounts of the incident.

AbbyPD's Traffic Enforcement Unit's "Project Joyride" sees 281 tickets issued and 104 vehicles impounded.

Road safety is one of the strategic priorities of the AbbyPD. Our Traffic Enforcement Unit recently launched an initiative targeting high-risk driving behaviours. Officers focused on Excessive Speeding and Street Racing in areas of concern identified by citizen complaints.
