Correction of information

Under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) in British Columbia, individuals have the right to correct their personal information held by public bodies. This right to correct information is essential to ensure the accuracy and integrity of personal data and to protect the privacy of individuals.

If you are a member of the public and believe that your personal information held by the AbbyPD is inaccurate or incomplete, we encourage you to contact our Privacy Officer for assistance.

How to Request a Correction:

To request a correction to your personal information, please follow these steps:

  1. Compose an email to our Privacy Officer at [email protected].
  2. In the subject line, please indicate that you are requesting a correction under FIPPA BC.
  3. In the body of the email, provide the following information:

• Your full name and contact information.
• A clear description of the information you believe is inaccurate or incomplete.
• Any supporting documentation or evidence that demonstrates the inaccuracies or      omissions, if applicable.

What to Expect:

Our Privacy Officer will acknowledge your request promptly and initiate the process to review and, if necessary, correct your personal information. We are committed to handling your request in compliance with FIPPA, and we will ensure that your personal information is accurate and up-to-date. 

Privacy Complaint or Breach

Your privacy is of the utmost importance to us at AbbyPD. If you believe there has been a privacy breach or wish to file a privacy complaint related to our operations, we encourage you to contact our Privacy Officer for prompt assistance.

Privacy complaint: If you believe that your privacy rights have been violated.
Privacy breach: If you believe there has been unauthorized access to, disclosure, or acquisition of personal or sensitive information that was supposed to be kept confidential.

To report a privacy complaint or a privacy breach, please follow these steps:

  2. In the subject line, please specify whether you are reporting a privacy complaint or a privacy breach.
  3. In the body of the email, provide the following information:

    For Privacy Complaints:
  • A detailed description of the nature of the privacy complaint.
  • Your full name and contact information.
  • Any supporting documents or evidence related to the complaint, if applicable.

For Privacy Breaches:

  • A clear description of the privacy breach, including when it occurred and any relevant details.
  • Your full name and contact information.
  • Any additional information that can help us understand the breach and its potential impact.

Our Privacy Officer will acknowledge your email promptly and initiate the appropriate steps to investigate and address your privacy complaint or breach. We take all privacy concerns seriously and are committed to resolving them in a timely and responsible manner.

OIPC Statement

Under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) in British Columbia, individuals have the right to submit a complaint to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner (OIPC) if they are dissatisfied with the actions or decisions taken by a public body regarding their personal information.


Your Right to Seek Redress:

If you believe that the AbbyPD has not appropriately addressed your privacy concerns or has failed to comply with the provisions of FIPPA, you have the right to seek redress through the OIPC. The OIPC is an independent office established to ensure transparency, fairness, and accountability in the handling of personal information.
